The Shadow Doors 1 by ~Loesie:iconLoesie:

‘Why is every day in school so boring? I mean, there is nothing to do.’ I sighed.
‘Come on, Jenna. Maybe, a teacher will get yelled at today?’ Katy tried to cheer me up.
‘Yeah, or I’ll finally kick Simon’s butt!’ Luke had always had problems with my ex-boyfriend Simon. In the end he turned out to be right, because besides me, Simon had decided to also date someone else. One time he made a mistake, and his agenda was double booked. I met the other girl, and luckily she was nice to me. She wasn’t as nice to Simon, though. Of course we both broke up with him.
But that didn’t stop him from still doing his thing. That’s why Luke still wants to kick his butt.
‘He’s not in our lives anymore, suck it up.’
‘I just want to kick someone, it’s my guys instinct. I’m always surrounded by you two.’
‘What’s wrong with us?’ Katy defended herself and me.
‘Besides, you chose to sit here. You can always go to Jonathan and Matthew.’
‘Yeah, but I don’t really like the sports talk.’ Luke always considered himself an artist, and no jock. Jonathan and Matthew had always been good friends with him and had had no problems with his artistic moods. But their friends were typical jocks, so during breaks Luke always sat with us.
We’ve known Luke since our first year in high school. Katy and I met him in art class. That’s why we became friends: our passion for art. Katy was the painter, Luke the sculptor, and I was the one with the words.
‘None of us like the sports talk, right Jenna?’
‘We hate the sports talk.’
‘Then I’m cool here, right?’
‘You’re cool here, as long as you don’t kick Simon’s butt.’
‘I’ll do that when you’re not looking, Jenna.’
‘That’s not what I meant. I’d love to see his butt get kicked, but if you do, this is not the area to be seated.’ Our table was right next to the ‘popular guys’ table, which is surprisingly not the same table as where the jocks are sitting. And Simon had pretty good connections with those ‘popular guys’. He would make sure our time near that table was not good at all, after the butt-kicking.
